Pange, lingua, gloriósi,
Córporis mystérium,
Sanguinísque pretiósi,
Quem in mundi prétium
Fructus ventris generósi
Rex effúdit géntium.
Of the glorious body telling,
O my tongue, its myst’ries sing,
And the blood, all price excelling,
Which the world’s eternal king,
In a noble womb once dwelling,
Shed for this world’s ransoming.
Nobis datus, nobis natus,
Ex intácta Virgine,
Et in mundo conversátus,
Sparso verbi sémine,
Sui moras incolátus,
Miro clausit órdine.
Given for us, for us descending,
Of a Virgin to proceed,
Man with man in converse blending,
Scattered he the Gospel seed,
Till his sojourn drew to ending,
Which he closed in wondrous deed.
In suprémae nocte cenae,
Recúmbens cum frátribus,
Observáta lege plene,
Cibis in legálibus,
Cibum turbae duodénae,
Se dat suis mánibus.
At the last great supper lying,
Circled by his brethren’s band,
Meekly with the law complying,
First he finished its command,
Then, immortal food supplying,
Gave himself with his own hand.
Verbum caro, panem verum,
Verbo carnem éfficit,
Fitque sanguis Christi merum,
Et si sensus déficit,
Ad firmándum cor sincérum,
Sola fides súfficit.
Word made flesh by word he maketh,
Very bread his flesh to be,
Man in wine Christ’s blood partaketh:
And if sensed fail to see,
Faith alone the true heart waketh
To behold the mystery.
Tantum ergo Sacraméntum
Venerémur cérnui:
Et antíquum documéntum
Novo cedat rítui:
Praestet fides suppleméntum
Sénsuum deféctui.
Therefore we before him bending,
This great sacrament revere,
Types and shadows have their ending,
For the newer right is here;
Faith, out outward sense befriending,
Makes the inward vision clear.
Genitóri Genitóque
Laus et jubilátio,
Salus, honor, virtus quoque
Sit et benedíctio:
Procedénti ab utróque
Compar sit laudátio.
Glory let us give, and blessing
To the Father, and the Son,
Honor, might, and praise addressing,
While eternal ages run;
Ever too his love confessing,
Who, from both with both is one.
But let’s do this… the channel is open and flowing; so, since we need to provision the ship of our soul, let’s proceed to provision it there, at the sweetest of channels, the heart and soul and body of Jesus Christ. We will find that this channel flows with so great a love that we will easily be able to fill our souls. So I say to you: don’t be slow to put your eye to this open window. For I assure you that supreme Goodness has prepared the times and the ways for us to do great deeds for Him. This is why I told you to be eager to increase your holy desire, and not to be satisfied with little things, because He wants great things!
By any longing for Thy Promised Land;
Nor by the fear of hell am I unmanned
To cease from my transgressing deed or word.
‘Tis Thou Thyself dost move me, — Thy blood poured
Upon the cross from nailed foot and hand;
And all the wounds that did Thy body brand;
And all Thy shame and bitter death’s award.
Yea, to Thy heart am I so deeply stirre
That I would love Thee were no heaven on high, —
That I would fear, were hell a tale absurd!
Such my desire, all questioning grows vain;
Though hope deny me hope I still should sigh,
And as my love is now, it should remain.
Devil's Most Used Instrument
It was advertised that the devil was going to put his tools up for sale. On the date of the sale, the tools were placed for public inspection; each tool being marked with its sale price.
They were a treacherous lot of implements … Hatred, Envy, Jealousy, Deceit, Lying, Pride, and so on.
Laid apart from the rest was a harmless looking tool, that appeared to have been heavily used, and was priced very high.
“What is the name of this tool?” asked one of the purchasers, pointing to it. “That is Discouragement,” replied the devil.
“Why have you priced it so high?”
“Because it is more useful to me than all the others. I can pry open and get inside people’s hearts with that when I cannot get near them with my other tools. Once I get inside, I can make them do what I choose. It is badly worn because I use it on almost everyone, since very few people know that it belongs to me.”
Never get discouraged! Keep your head up keep your faith in HIM!

Space which remains in you
I often return
to the space which is Your Son, your first Son.
Then thought takes on His form
but the eyes remain empty -
and to the lips words return, the same words
which he put on
when he wanted to stay with us.
These self-same words enfold his space
better than sight,
better than memory and heart - oh, Mother,
then you are with Him again.
Bow down with me and take -
Your Son is the taste of bread,
and beyond taste, ineffable is substance.
And now - more real than in my lips’ whisper,
than in thought, sight and memory -
is the space also more really in bread?
Your arms now remember His space, the little head
snuggling to your shoulder,
for the space has remained in You,
for it was taken from You.
And shining never empty. So very present in You.
When with my trembling hands I broke the bread
to give it to you, Mother,
I stood for a moment amazed as I saw
the whole truth through one single tear
in your eye.
